Isabella Romano is a PhD candidate in the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo. She began working with HRI as a research assistant during her undergraduate degree, and was a practicum student under the supervision of Dr. Jean Costello. Currently, Isabella is conducting an evaluation of Homewood Health Centre’s Tobacco-Free Policy and its impact on AMS patients’ tobacco use and treatment outcomes. Isabella’s research interests include the relationship between mental health and substance use; her dissertation work involves assessing the impact that federal cannabis legislation may have on the well-being of youth enrolled in the COMPASS Study. Isabella is a recipient of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) CGS-M award.
